Since the very beginning of the program, TME Education has been recognizing vocational skills as those which make a person more competitive and desired in a labour market. Therefore, many project's activities and initiatives are aimed at strong promotion and transfer of this kind of abilities. TME Education’s philosophy is to run the program in the spirit of sustainability and coherency, and that is why, apart from intensive crash courses on electronics, it gets engaged in durable collaborations that allow the youth to get proper knowledge and learning experience.
CSCA, a non-profit organization in Uganda, has been TME Education’s partner since 2019. It was founded in 2015 by Jadwiga Nowak and Olukayode Osunsan. Their primary objective is to provide less privileged children and adults within and around Kampala slums the chance for a better life through sports, life-skills training, adult and secondary school education. The collaboration was initiated by providing CSCA with laptops and electronic tools that were used for classes given to the local youth. However, the positive response and increase in interest in getting vocational skills encouraged both parties to extend the scope of their common activities. Through communication and a deep understanding of the needs of the organization’s beneficiaries, TME Education and CSCA launched three types of courses taught by TME Education tutors: Computer Science Class (two levels) conducted by Titus Jjuuko, Electronics by Mpuuga Abdu Nasser and Vocational Phone Repairing Lab by Makumbi Muhammad. In the nearest future, the students will also be able to take nationally recognized exams and obtain diplomas that will allow them to get satisfactory employment or establish their own businesses.
Apart from technology-related courses, CSCA is also providing classes on tailoring, hairdressing and physical therapy. Moreover, the organization strongly supports taekwondo groups based in Kireka Slums – the place that inspired them to act for the good of the local communities.
