Making Change through Technology: TME Education's April 2024 Initiatives

To support diverse communities interested in STEM education, we hosted hands-on training seminars in Botswana, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Liberia, Zambia and more in April 2024. These workshops were aimed at teaching students and teachers to acquire relevant skills in electronics and programming.

Letlhakane, Modipane, Old Naledi, Bobonong, Block 8 Gaborone, and Palapye are just a few of the communities in Botswana where Ambassador Keitumetse Neo Modipane arranged a number of training sessions. The effort was designed to train students about electronics, programming, and 3D printing. Outside the classroom, these programmes as always aimed for long-term socio-economic growth. By using computers, Arduino-based boards, and other electronic components the students could explore the matter with a simultaneous practical approach to it.

TME Education Ambassador Ruvimbo Michelle Mukonoweshuro organized the “Teen Electronics and Robotics Bootcamp” in Harare, Zimbabwe. During the training, participants learnt about circuits and Arduino programming by building flashlight circuits.

The workshop promoted computer science and electronics education in Harare in partnership with Women's University in Africa (WUA). They also launched the Arduino User Group (AUG) at the Eight2Five Innovation Hub to mark the beginning of a new chapter.

Apart from that, Robe Getachew used the TME Education boards to lead a workshop at Awash School in Adama, Ethiopia. Students worked on real-world projects, practiced coding, and eventually built and programmed electronic gadgets. On the other hand, under Ambassador Obrey Muchena in Zambia, participants went through a thorough learning process that developed their technical skills in the use of gas sensors, robotic arm control and more. The students expressed their satisfaction after the events and indicated their willingness to take part in subsequent events in the future.

The April 2024 training sessions conducted by TME Ambassadors across many African countries and in India have significantly contributed to advancing STEM education among diverse communities. As always, we invite you to visit our social media to stay in touch with the latest news.
