Striving for a Better Future: Recap on February Activities

Imagine a world where every child has the power to innovate and create technology that shapes their future. This is not just a dream but a reality being built by our Ambassadors and Tutors spread across 26 countries.

In the quest to build a future of electronics professionals, ‘Kidtronics’ recently hosted a workshop at Eight2Five Innovation Hub, located at the heart of Harare’s Central Business District, Zimbabwe. Designed for children aged from 8 to 12, the event was led by TME ambassador, Ruvimbo Michelle Mukonoweshuro, whose passion for electronics ignited inspiration. With hands-on experiments involving LEDs, buzzers, pushbuttons, and resistors, participants learnt the magic of bringing electronic components to life using the mBlock IDE.

In Liberia, 95 students participated in a technology and innovation workshop, held over twenty days at Innoignite Resource Center and Orange Digital Center. The 20-day program included FabLab 101, Arduino Programming, and 3D Printing. Additionally, the Ladies Tech & Rights Program empowered over 50 young women with computer skills, graphic design using smartphones, and web development with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The initiative marked a significant step in expanding young people’s abilities through technology education in Liberia.

The journey continued in Rwanda; TME Education ambassador Nshimiyimana Nestor held a workshop at Intango Technical Secondary School in Kigali. 30 students participated in the workshop: 16 of them were boys and 14 were girls. The training focused on the basics of Arduino programming using the TME EDU KIT2 as well as other electronics kits. The training helped students in connecting external electronic circuits and using Arduino programming to control them.

With the activities listed above being only a part and an example of many more other training sessions we conducted, these workshops served as a springboard, encouraging children across Africa to explore, innovate, and envision a future where they are the creators of technology. We must continue to support and expand these initiatives, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to shape the digital world. Let’s invest in the future by nurturing today’s young minds, for they are the innovators who will transform our world.

Join us on our social media in rooting for the next generation of technology creators. Together, we can ignite a brighter future for all.
