Advancing STEM Education Across Africa: Impactful Workshops and Seminars Held in June 2024

In June 2024, our ambassadors embarked on an inspiring journey across Africa, bringing STEM education to life through workshops and seminars in Botswana, Zambia, Liberia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Burundi, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Mauritania. The program aimed to enhance STEM education through engaging and impactful activities.

In Botswana, Keitumetse Neo Modipane organized workshops at Resego Academy, Motswedi Junior Secondary School, Matshekge Hill School, and a community outreach in Letlhakane. The focus was on providing students, especially girls at Matshekge Hill, with practical knowledge in electronics and programming. Participants learned about electronic components, circuit building, and using multimeters. A national radio interview and a project with Bulb World Company for solar street light installations added another layer of community impact.

In Liberia, Archie Forpoh hosted a workshop for teachers on Digital Literacy and Computer Fundamentals, enhancing their teaching abilities with essential digital skills. The workshop covered topics such as computer basics, word processing, spreadsheets, internet navigation, and cybersecurity. Through hands-on sessions, teachers learned to manage documents, analyze data, and implement safe Internet practices.

In Zimbabwe, Ruvimbo Michelle Mukonoweshuro focused on workshops at the Women's University and the launch of the NextGen Anchors Program. Students immersed themselves in programming, learning basic Arduino terminology and working with TME-Edu Boards. A final workshop saw students building mini-robots using breadboards, battery packs, gear motors, and switches. The NextGen Anchors Program's onboarding session, in partnership with the Eight2Five Innovation Hub, introduced youth to programming using Mblock.

Each workshop and training session marked a significant step towards fostering innovation and excellence across Africa. The dedication to advancing STEM education was evident in every activity, underscoring a shared commitment to shaping a brighter, more technologically advanced future for the continent.
