The Pan-African Robotics Competition (PARC) stands as a flagship event celebrating innovation and youth empowerment across Africa and its global diaspora.
Designed for middle and high school students, PARC offers three dynamic leagues—Tech, Stars, and Makers—where teams showcase their engineering prowess by solving real-world problems rooted in science, technology, and the goals of sustainable development across the continent.
At the start of the year, TME Education Kenya ambassador, in collaboration with Zetech University, launched a recruitment drive to select and train student teams for the Pan-African Robotics Competition (PARC) 2025, one of Africa’s most prestigious STEM events. This competition challenges young innovators to solve real-world problems using technology, with a strong emphasis on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This year, the Kenyan teams will compete in two of the competition’s most advanced categories: the AI League and the Engineers League.
The AI League challenges students to design AI-powered solutions for the mining industry, tackling issues of safety, efficiency, and sustainability. Through this, participants are developing strong skills in machine learning, data analysis, technical writing, and research communication. The AI team includes seven dedicated students who have undergone months of preparation and mentorship.
The Engineers League requires teams to build an autonomous system capable of applying fertilizer efficiently across large-scale maize farms. Using the PARC AgRobot, students must engineer navigation software for diverse field layouts and design a custom fertilizer implement. This task combines practical skills in ROS, OpenCV, Gazebo, Fusion 360, and SolidWorks, giving participants hands-on experience in robotics, CAD design, and hardware-software integration.
From July 17 to 19, 2025, the teams will proudly represent Kenya in Senegal, joining peers from across the continent in showcasing their ideas and engineering solutions.
The teams are not only gaining technical knowledge in robotics and AI but are also building confidence, leadership, and a vision for Africa’s future. The opportunity to represent Kenya, Zetech University, and TME Education at the Pan-African Robotics Competition (PARC) 2025 in Senegal is a testament to the impact our ambassadors and tutors continue to make in shaping the next generation of innovators.
