In April 2024, a significant initiative took place at Zetech University and NIBS Technical College in Nairobi, Kenya. First, our ambassador, Kelvin Kangethe, organized a Robotics Bootcamp hosted at Zetech University. This event drew participants from diverse backgrounds, including high school students from Thika High School, TME Education Kenya community members and Zetech University students passionate about robotics.
The bootcamp was hands-on, focusing on both the mechanical and electrical facets of robotics. Participants assembled and programmed robots from scratch, gaining practical skills and knowledge. The inclusion of Python and Java programming further enriched their technical expertise.
Meanwhile, at NIBS Technical College, electronics training workshops were organized with over 20 students in attendance, supported by 3 electrical tutors. These sessions introduced students to microcontroller programming and hardware design, fostering a deep understanding of electronics.
These initiatives were just one of many significant steps to boost access to technology education in Kenya, promoting STEM learning and inspiring future careers in these fields.
